Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist is focused on supplier selection for a variety of ingredients in the assigned portfolio. On-boarding, RFP/RFQ processes, supplier management for non-commodity ingredients are also part of the responsibility. This role requires strong collaboration with internal customers and the ability to create strategic partnerships with suppliers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Closely work with FGF R&D to gather requirements for new ingredients
  • Identify sources of new ingredients in a timely manner
  • Negotiate contracts with new and existing suppliers to continuously reduce the total cost of ownership without compromising product quality and supply continuity
  • Become subject matter expert; present market analysis as required to other FGF teams
  • Closely monitor market developments for the assigned portfolio of ingredients used in our manufacturing process and make recommendations for adding pricing/volume coverage to minimize supply risk and achieve optimal TCO
  • Collaborate with the R&D and Food Quality teams for approval of alternate ingredients and suppliers
  • Understand the FGF supply chain and align the supply base to its requirements (flexibility, continuous problem solving)
  • Support the Supplier Approval team through the on boarding process
  • Accountable for supplier management (this includes OTIF, facilitate quality performance correction, monitoring production capacity, continuous improvement with direct impact on efficiency)
  • Continuously search for the right risk mitigation and product innovation opportunities, and work with internal teams (R&D, Product Lifecycle Management, Production, Quality, etc) to implement such changes
  • Lead assigned projects for cost savings, cost mitigation, secondary sources, and process improvement; collaborate with other groups in the organization to improve the materials flow

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Ingredients Sourcing or Procurement within a high-paced, multi-plant CPG manufacturing environment
  • University Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Finance
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience leading high volume of RFP/RFQ
  • Good knowledge of ERP/MRP processes
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization both internally and externally in both written and oral form
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Ability to reliably commute to the office in North York, ON
