Pay Rate: $23.25/hour plus $1 premium for night hours and $2 premium for weekend hours

Summary

 

Reporting to the Sanitation Shift Leader, and Sanitation Team Leader. The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and maintaining a range of different equipment within the plant, works in a timely manner, works alongside cross functional departments, and meets all standards set forth by FGF Brands.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all electrical components (motors, sensors, HMI screens, etc.) are covered properly before cleaning to prevent safety issues and damage to the electrical components
  • Assists in maintaining sanitation programs and equipment programs as needed (e.g. drain cleaning, floor cleaning, replacing filters, cleaning overheads, waste/recycling, and other assigned tasks)
  • Cleans and maintains a range of industrial equipment including oiler machines, ovens, conveyor belts, scissor lifts, sky jacks, motors, sanitation equipment, packaging equipment, and any assigned tasks in accordance with SSOP’s and Smart Schedule
  • Efficient and effective communication using various forms such as verbal, written, two-way radio, other programs, etc.
  • Will be responsible for training fellow Team Members where they have the knowledge and experience
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with cross functional departments
  • Address any issues or emergencies related to the Sanitation department. This may include examples such as equipment issues/failures, water leaks, safety hazards, food safety issues, etc.
  • Support during product changeovers through the production week
  • Always follows and enforces GMP’S and Food Safety practices and policies
  • Performs all job responsibilities under the strictest guidelines of the BRCGS Food Safety Standards and FGF Policies
  • Ensures all chemicals are handled properly according to FGF policies and the chemical supplier’s specifications
  • Follow all Health & Safety policies and practices (PPE, best practices, safety requirements, etc.)
  • Ensure to address any pest issues to fullest capability including cleaning and reporting
  • Operates Scissor Lift safely to clean overheads, HVAC systems, and hard to reach areas
  • Collaborate effectively with all internal groups/teams and provide support during the daily cleaning
  • Performs other training and duties as assigned

Required  Experience

  • Minimum 6 months experience working in the sanitation industry in a food manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable)
  • Scissor Lift license required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the role
  • Ability to move from one task to another with minimal distraction
  • Must be flexible to work throughout the week and weekend (Sat. and Sun.) and able to work up to 12 hr. shifts when needed.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a sanitation issue
  • Familiar with internal audits and BRC audits
  • Working knowledge of GMP's, O.H.S.A is required
  • Post-secondary education an asset
