Summary

 

The Health & Safety Project Specialist plays a pivotal role in fostering a secure and healthy workplace environment across multiple locations in North America. With a focus on comprehensive safety program implementation and continuous improvement, this role ensures adherence to health and safety laws and regulations while prioritizing the well-being of all team members. Collaborating with leadership, operations, and supporting partners, including Agency Partners, they drive safety initiatives, analyze accident trends, and identify areas for improvement.
Leveraging their expertise in project management, data management, and analysis, The Health & Safety Project Specialist supports the development and implementation of robust systems and processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in decision-making. The Health & Safety Project Specialist will provide support with project management activities including gathering information from users and a variety of other sources while contributing to the entire project lifecycle. This role will also provide guidance, training, and insights derived from data analysis, to contribute to the development and execution of Health & Safety strategies aligned with the FGF’s broader strategic goals and compliance requirements. With strong communication, interpersonal, and project management skills, the Health & Safety Project Specialist fosters a culture of safety awareness and compliance, ultimately creating secure workplaces across multiple sites.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all phases of assigned H&S projects from concept through execution.
  • Ensure H&S Team adherence to project schedules through a regular meeting cadence of progress
    review with appropriate follow-up actions to ensure on-time delivery of the project.
  • Create project schedules that capture H&S and where necessary cross-functional involvement and
    determine the best course of action to ensure project goals are met.
  • Proactively identify and manage gaps in the scheduled tasks, schedule misses, or slippage by identifying early when tasks are off track and working with team members and leaders to develop strategies to correct them.
  • Responsible for delivering the project objectives, supporting change management, planning and transition into continuing operations.
  • Support the development and implementation of robust systems and processes to streamline data collection, storage, and analysis, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in decision-making.
  • Manage and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility for stakeholders across the organization.
  • Leverage the available data and trends to identify cost-saving opportunities, e.g., workers' compensation risk ratings, vendor spend analysis, etc.
  • Conduct trend analysis to identify patterns, insights, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess organizational needs and develop data-driven policies and procedures to support strategic goals and compliance requirements.
  • From time to time, support safety evaluations, and audits, and facilitate Joint Health and Safety Committees to assess and improve safety behaviors, preventing injuries, and promoting compliance.
  • From time to time, support investigations into incidents, perform root-cause analysis and provide actionable recommendations for corrective and preventive measures.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data management and analysis to continuously improve systems and methodologies.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of organizational strategies by providing timely and accurate insights derived from comprehensive data analysis and policy recommendations.

Required Experience

  • One to three years prior experience with a focus on Project Management and or Data Analysis
  • Strong and proven administrative, multi-tasking, time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong and proven communication and interpersonal skills. The Individual must be able to build strong relationships with both internal and external customers and participate effectively on cross[1]functional teams without direct supervisory responsibility for the teams.
  • Data management, analytical, and statistical modeling skills.
  • Strong Project Management skills, problem-solving, and reporting skills
  • Strong computer proficiency, specifically using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Office, etc.) and other data modeling software.
  • Competency in fostering a Health & Safety environment.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision as well as within a collaborative team setting.
  • Must be able to excel in a fast-paced environment within specified timeframes and where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible, open, and approachable attitude
