    Close collaboration with multifaceted teams is essential to proactively identify and mitigate workplace hazards, deliver impactful health education and training, and institute effective injury prevention and management protocols.

  • Primary Responsibilities:

    • As the leader of a team of Health & Wellness Professionals, this role is responsible and accountable for coordinating the Team’s efforts in the following areas:
    • Case Management: Provide comprehensive case management for occupational-related injuries and illnesses, including assessment, treatment, and follow-up care.
    • Collaborate with healthcare providers, facilitate return-to-work plans, manage workers' compensation claims, and coach team members in effective case management practices.
    • Health Surveillance: Conduct health screenings and assessments to monitor the health status of team members and detect potential occupational health issues early.
    • Mentor team members in conducting thorough health surveillance activities.
    • Emergency Response and First Aid: Offer immediate medical assistance in workplace accidents or emergencies, administer first aid, coordinate emergency medical services, and coach team members in emergency response protocols.
    • Health and Wellness Initiatives: Develop and implement programs fostering a healthy work environment, including, but not limited to, educational sessions on ergonomics, stress management, nutrition, and lifestyle choices. Coach team members in designing and delivering impactful health and wellness initiatives.
    • Workplace Hazard Identification and Mitigation: Identify potential health and safety hazards in the workplace, conduct risk assessments and ergonomic evaluations, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies. Mentor team members in effective hazard identification and mitigation techniques.
    • Policy Development and Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce occupational health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Stay updated on relevant legislation and standards, guide Leadership and team members, and coach team members in policy development and compliance.
    • Team member Support and Counseling: Provide support and counseling to team members regarding health-related concerns, injury rehabilitation, and lifestyle management.
    • Refer Team members to appropriate resources, facilitate access to support services, and mentor team members in providing effective support and counseling.
    • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of health and safety in the workplace. Participate in safety committees, conduct training sessions, facilitate communication channels for reporting health and safety concerns, and coach team members in effective collaboration and communication practices.
    • Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of occupational health-related activities, including injury reports, health assessments, and program evaluations. Coach team members in effective data management and reporting practices.
    • Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing professional development, stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in occupational health nursing, attend conferences, pursue additional certifications, engage in peer networking opportunities, and mentor team members in continuous improvement efforts.
    • Other duties as required.

  • Required Experience

    • University or college degree related to Occupational Health and Safety, or bachelor’s degree in nursing. o RN (Registered Nurses) preferred. RPN (Registered Practical Nurse) Diploma accepted.
    • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
    • Diploma or certification COHN(C) in Occupational Health Nursing is required.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of recent related experience working in Occupational Health.
    • At least seven (7) years of nursing experience, preferably in Occupational Health.
    • Previous experience in leading a team is required.
    • Experience interpreting and complying with current legislation pertaining to the workplace.
    • Experience in environmental and health assessment, case management, worker rehabilitation, and health and safety education preferred.
    • Strong and proven communication and interpersonal skills. The Individual must be able to build strong relationships with both internal and external customers and participate effectively on cross-functional teams without direct supervisory responsibility for the teams.
    • Strong and proven Project Management skills, problem-solving, and reporting skills
    • Strong computer proficiency, specifically using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Office, etc.)
    • Strong and proven knowledge of disability management, theory, and practices
    • Proven facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills along with superior interpersonal and organizational skills required to deliver training and coaching to teams and individuals at all levels within the organization.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of current Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards.
    • Ability to de-escalate highly charged situations and provide leadership, guidance, and direction to others.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Must be able to prioritize, manage, and excel in a fast-paced environment within specified timeframes and where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential.
    • Flexible, open, and approachable attitude
